The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has estimated the cotton production in Bangladesh as 1,55,000 bales in year 2022-23 which is an increase of 2.6% , than in year 2021-22.Harvested area of cotton is calculated as 46,000 hectares for the current year which is a rise of 2.2% than year 2021-22.In cotton year 2021, Bangladesh readymade garment (RMG) came up as the second largest exporter with a record of $35.81 billion.USDA also estimates the import of cotton for the year 2022-23, as 8.9 million bales, which is up by 7.2% over the year 2021-22, consequently because of high demands of yarn and fabrics at RMG industry.
