He has also demanded the government to start the purchase of cotton in Charkhi Dadri district. Apart from this, farmers have also refused to have government purchase.Let us tell you that during the Kharif season in Charkhi Dadri district, mainly millet, guar and cotton are cultivated. During the Kharif season 2024, cotton was sown by farmers in about 45 thousand acres in the district. Due to pink bollworm and bad weather, cotton production did not come up to the expectations of the farmers. On the other hand, farmers have suffered losses as their crops are not being purchased under MSP and farmers are forced to sell their crops at very low prices. Although the market committee officials claim that government procurement of cotton is being done, but according to their claim, only 1500 quintals of cotton has been purchased which is like a drop in the ocean.Arhatiya Association demanded to start government procurementCharkhi Dadri Arhatiya Association's Deputy Chief Radheshyam Mittal said that cotton has been purchased in many districts but the purchase of cotton has not started in Charkhi Dadri district yet, due to which arhatiyas and farmers are suffering losses. He said that Charkhi Dadri district produces a good amount of cotton and during the season, farmers are reaching the market with 10 to 15 thousand quintals of cotton per day and even now with about 1500 quintals of cotton per day, but due to lack of government procurement, farmers are not getting proper prices. Due to which commission agents and farmers are suffering losses. CCI has given permission to 4 to 5 mills to purchase. No cotton has been purchased from farmers under government procurement. "Farmers are concerned over certain hurdles created by CCI on the pretext of quality check and supply mode. Though they understand the importance of grading, outright refusal to purchase their cotton in some cases is unacceptable," the MP said in his letter.He also criticised local CCI officials for issuing verbal directions on packaging and other parameters, calling it an 'afterthought' which is adding to the woes of farmers. He said farmers use bags to protect cotton from contamination during transportation."CCI should accept the cotton brought by farmers without raising unnecessary objections. Cotton purchases surge as soybean sales slow, with just three weeks remaining until the end of the buying season.

Soybean is being purchased at 8 centers in the district from October 25, while cotton is being purchased by the Cotton Corporation of India in the Upaj Mandi and Mundi Upaj Mandi located in Khandwa. But farmers are giving more importance to the purchase of cotton when they get higher prices than the market, whereas in the case of soybean's government price being lower than the market and not getting cash payment, farmers are keeping distance from the purchase centers.This situation has arisen because the situation of soybean purchase in the district is bad because the farmers are not ready to sell the produce on the strict rules made by the government for purchase. They are not even getting cash payment for selling the produce. The situation is such that till now 393 farmers have sold only 6 thousand 755 quintals of cotton to the government at the government price.The purchasing situation at eight centers in the last seven weeks is not good. Farmers have sold only 6 thousand 755 quintals of soybean at these centers till now. According to the District Marketing Association, till 9th December, 338 quintals of produce have been purchased at the Central Warehouse of Tehsil Cooperative Agricultural Marketing Association Marketing Khandwa, 122.50 quintals at the center Jai Bhole Warehouse Gudi Kheda of Tehsil Cooperative Agricultural Marketing Association Marketing Khandwa, 2724 quintals at Krishna Warehouse of Seva Sahakari Samiti Pandhana, 992 quintals at Mantri Warehouse in Harsud Co-operative Marketing Society, New Harsud, 1631 quintals at Shri Balaji Warehouse Kehlari of Seva Sahakari Samiti Mundi, 265 quintals at Siddhi Warehouse of Seva Sahakari Samiti Gambhir, 117 quintals at Dheer Warehouse of Krishak Cooperative Marketing & Processing Committee Khalwa and 608 quintals of produce have been purchased at Akshita Agro Warehouse Punasa located at Seva Sahakari Samiti Richfal.Read more : Rupee Falls 7 Paise to 84.73 vs US Dollar
