This evening, the rupee ended the day 5 paise weaker versus the US dollar, at 83.64
At the close of trading, the BSE Sensex rose 666.25 points or 0.78 per cent to close at 85,836.12. The Sensex hit a new high of 85,930.43 during the day. The NSE's 50-share index, the Nifty, rose 181.85 points or 0.70 per cent to close at 26,186.00. It also touched a new high of 26,250.90 during the day.
