Equity benchmark indices gained in early trade on Monday after relief in CPI inflation, which fell to an 18-month low of 4.7 per cent in April. The BSE Sensex advanced 160 points to 62,200 and the NSE Nifty 50 advanced 45 points to 18,360.

The rupee depreciated 6 paise to 82.24 against the US dollar in early trade on Monday on the strength of the American currency overseas.
