The rupee appreciated 11 paise against the dollar this evening, closing at Rs 83.36.
At the end of trading, BSE Sensex closed at 73,648.62, up 560.29 points or 0.77%. Whereas NSE's 50-share index Nifty closed at 22,336.40, up 189.40 points or 0.86%.
