At the close of trading, the BSE Sensex rose 181.88 points, or 0.24%, to close at 76,992.77. The NSE's 50-share index Nifty gained 66.70 points, or 0.29%, to close at 23,465.60. During the day's trading, it had hit a new high of 23,490.40.
