This evening, the rupee gained 2 paise against the dollar, closing at Rs 84.83
At the close, the Sensex rose 16.09 points or 0.02 per cent to close at 81,526.14 and the Nifty rose 31.75 points or 0.13 per cent to close at 24,641.80. Around 2053 stocks advanced, 1772 declined and 109 stocks remained unchanged.
