Indian economy to overtake Japan in 2025
According to IMF (International Monetary Fund) data released in April, India will overtake Japan to become the fourth largest economy in 2025 when Japan crosses the $4 trillion mark.
The Indian economy is expected to reach $4.187 billion in nominal GDP in 2025, compared to $4.186 billion for Japan.
In 2024, India was the fifth largest economy in the world, with a GDP size of $3.9 trillion, compared to Japan's $4.1 trillion.
The IMF said in its World Economic Outlook released last month that the Indian economy is expected to grow 6.3 per cent in real terms, compared to the 6.5 per cent growth projected earlier.
