Rupee strengthened by 11 paise against dollar and closed at 87.60

The Indian rupee on thursday higher 11 paise to close at 87.60 per dollar, while it opened at 87.71 in the morning.
At close, the Sensex was down 296.28 points or 0.36 percent at 81,185.58, and the Nifty was down 86.70 points or 0.35 percent at 24,768.35. About 1490 shares advanced, 2365 shares declined, and 135 shares unchanged.
