The Indian rupee strengthened by 7 paise to close at 95.65 against the US dollar on Wednesday.
The domestic currency opened at 95.72 against the US dollar and appreciated throughout the trading session, settling at 95.65, up 7 paise from the previous close.
Indian equity markets also ended sharply higher. The Sensex surged 888.68 points, or 1.16%, to close at 77,654.60, while the Nifty advanced 264.85 points, or 1.10%, to finish at 24,250.20.
Market breadth remained positive, with 2,460 shares advancing, 1,597 declining, and 177 remaining unchanged on the BSE.
