The Indian rupee weakened by 07 paise against the US dollar on Thursday, closing at ₹96.78 per dollar.
The domestic currency opened at ₹96.71 against the US dollar and fluctuated throughout the trading session. It eventually closed at ₹96.78, down 07 paise from the opening level.
The Sensex was down 1,045.46 points or 1.44 percent at 71,593.24, and the Nifty was down 371.25 points or 1.64 percent at 22,231.80. About 951 shares advanced, 3280 shares declined, and 180 shares unchanged.
