The rupee declined by 4 paise to close at 84.73 against the dollar this evening.
At the close, the Sensex was down 200.66 points or 0.25 per cent at 81,508.46, and the Nifty was down 58.80 points or 0.24 per cent at 24,619.00. About 2222 stocks advanced, 1692 declined, and 151 stocks remained unchanged.
