This evening, the rupee gained 16 paise against the US dollar, closing at 83.37.
At the close of trading, the BSE Sensex rallied 2,303.20 points or 3.20% to close at 72,079.05. The NSE's 50-share index Nifty jumped 735.85 points or 3.36% to close at 22,620.35.
