This evening, the rupee fell 9 paise to settle at 83.79 against the US dollar

At the close of trading, the BSE Sensex fell 1,272.07 points or 1.49 per cent to close at 84,299.78. The NSE's 50-share index, Nifty, fell 368.10 points or 0.41 per cent to close at 25,810.85.
