At the close of trading, the BSE Sensex rose 545.34 points, or 0.69%, to close at 79,986.80. During the day, it touched a new high of 80,074.30. The NSE's 50-share index Nifty rose 162.65 points, or 0.67%, to close at 24,286.50. During the day, it touched a new all-time high of 24,309.15.
