This evening, the rupee appreciated by 2 paise to settle at 83.95 against the US dollar.
At the close of trading, the BSE Sensex rose 149.85 points or 0.10 per cent to close at 79,105.88. The NSE's 50-share index, Nifty, rose marginally by 4.75 points or 0.02 per cent to close at 24,143.75.
