The rupee had closed at 95.28 on Tuesday, whereas today it opened at 95.00 per dollar, marking a gain of 28 paise.
Indian benchmark indices were trading lower in early trade; the Sensex fell 118.17 points or 0.16 percent to 72,915.61, and the Nifty dropped 53.55 points or 0.24 percent to 22,668.40.
