The Indian rupee weakened by 18 paise against the US dollar on Wednesday, closing at ₹95.74 per dollar.
The domestic currency opened at ₹95.56 against the US dollar and fluctuated throughout the trading session. It eventually closed at ₹95.74, down 18 paise from the opening level.
At close, the Sensex was up 299.17 points or 0.40 percent at 74,828.25, and the Nifty was up 117.80 points or 0.50 percent at 23,446.80. About 2674 shares advanced, 1531 shares declined, and 169 shares unchanged.
