The domestic currency opened at ₹96.72 against the US dollar and fluctuated throughout the trading session. It eventually closed at ₹96.73, down 01 paise from the opening level.
The Sensex closed 879 points higher at 72,472.33, while the Nifty gained 289 points to settle at 22,520.45 after the closing auction session. The final Sensex close was about 72 points below its pre-CAS level, while the Nifty settled around 15 points lower. Market breadth remained positive, with 2,344 advances against 1,686 declines.
