The Indian rupee weakened by 37 paise against the US dollar on Thursday, closing at ₹96.32 per dollar.
The domestic currency opened at ₹95.95 against the US dollar and fluctuated throughout the trading session. It eventually closed at ₹96.32, down 37 paise from the opening level.
At close, the Sensex was down 570.59 points or 0.79 percent at 71,909.70, and the Nifty was down 198.50 points or 0.88 percent at 22,421.95. About 1306 shares advanced, 2916 shares declined, and 191 shares unchanged.
