The Indian rupee higher by 16 paise against the US dollar on Tuesday, closing at ₹95.59 per dollar.
The domestic currency opened at ₹95.75 against the US dollar and fluctuated throughout the trading session. It eventually closed at ₹95.59, up 13 paise from the previous opening level.
At close, the Sensex was down 329.91 points or 0.44 percent at 74,529.08, and the Nifty was down 85.30 points or 0.36 percent at 23,329. About 2074 shares advanced, 2090 shares declined, and 187 shares unchanged.
