Kharif season begins sluggishly in Gujarat, groundnut and cotton ahead
Kharif 2025 sowing operations have begun in Gujarat, but so far only 77,067 hectares of area has been sown, which is a mere 0.90% of the state's average kharif sowing (8.56 million hectares). According to the latest report of the state agriculture department, sowing of groundnut, cotton and vegetables has seen partial progress, while major cereal crops are still missing from the fields.

Oilseeds and other crops
The total sown area of oilseeds is 31,225 hectares, with groundnut accounting for the largest share. Sowing of soybean and castor is negligible — 52 and 88 hectares, respectively.
