The Indian rupee on tuesday lower 16 paise to close at 89.22 per dollar, while it opened at 89.06 in the morning.
At close, the Sensex was down 313.70 points or 0.37 percent at 84,587.01, and the Nifty was down 74.70 points or 0.29 percent at 25,884.80. About 2022 shares advanced, 1972 shares declined, and 149 shares unchanged.
