IMD forecast heavy to very heavy rain in many states till July 13, alert issued - View Latest Forecast

States like Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka are predicting heavy rains during this week. It has been raining continuously for the last four days in Maharashtra.


The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in many states during the next five days. It also said that a cyclonic circulation is extending up to upper troposphere level over South Jharkhand and adjoining areas. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over the same area during the next 24 hours.


Here's the detailed rain forecast till July 13
States like Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka are predicting heavy rains during this week. It has been raining incessantly in Maharashtra for the last four days and the Met Office has issued a red alert for Mumbai for the next 24 hours.


For Gujarat, the Met Office has predicted very heavy rainfall till 11th July, while Madhya Maharashtra is likely to receive rain on 10th and 11th; Coastal Karnataka on the 9th; Coastal Andhra Pradesh on 8th and 11th; Telangana on 8 and 11; South Interior Karnataka on 8th; West Madhya Pradesh on 8 and 10; East Madhya Pradesh on 11th; and Chhattisgarh on July 11.


The IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on July 8 and 9. There is a possibility of extremely heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand on Saturday (July 9). SK Sharma, senior scientist at IMD in Shimla, said on Friday that his office has issued an orange alert for Kangra, Mandi, Sirmaur and Solan districts for July 8 and 9. He said that heavy rain warning has been issued for Shimla, Bilaspur, Hamirpur and Una. Districts He said that the rain activity would continue for the next 4-5 days.


The Meteorological Department has forecast scattered rain and thundershower activity during the week over East Uttar Pradesh and West Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Rajasthan on Friday (July 8). Rain is likely to increase in these areas for two days from Saturday.


Isolated heavy rain is likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh on 8th and 10th, West Uttar Pradesh on 8th-10th, Rajasthan on 8th and 10th July. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also likely over North Punjab and North Haryana, Chandigarh and North Punjab. South Rajasthan on July 9, 2022," the IMD said in its daily update.


In addition to this, extremely heavy rainfall is likely over South Odisha and South Chhattisgarh and North Coastal Andhra Pradesh during July 12-13 due to a low pressure area likely to form over Odisha coast during the same period, IMD said.
